As a zombie book it is alright; the author does a good job telling the story of the Zombie war through imaginative interviews with survivors. Some of the war scenes and survivor escapes are why I am a zombie escapist; they are riveting. Although halfway through the book he lets on that humans won the war.

The extended title An Oral History of the Zombie War is a further allusion to a Pulitzer Prize-winning title by author Studs Terkel, The Good War: An Oral History of World War Two (1984) .
